Xiaomi Unveils Mi 5c & Redmi 4X

Xiaomi unveiled two new smartphones in Beijing - the Mi 5c and the Redmi 4X. The former is particularly interesting as it is powered by the company's first in-house chipset, the Surge S1. It is an octa-core processor paired with a Mali-T860 MP4 GPU. The Xiaomi Mi 5c also has 3GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. Its other features include a 5.15-inch display of Quad HD resolution, a 12-MP primary camera, an 8-MP selfie camera, a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button, LTE connectivity with VoLTE support, and a 2,860 mAh battery with fast charge support. The Mi 5c runs the latest MIUI, which is based on Android 7.1 Nougat. It will retail for $218.

After the Mi 5c, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 4X, which is an upgraded version of the Redmi 4. The smartphone comes with a 5-inch display of 720p HD resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 chipset with 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage. It runs MIUI 8 based on Android. Its other features include a 13-MP main camera, a 5-MP secondary shooter, dual-SIM connectivity, LTE with VoLTE support, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a large 4,100 mAh battery. The Redmi 4X will come in Cherry Pink, Champagne Gold, and Matte Black color options. Its pricing starts at $100.
