Movie Review: 24/7 In Love

Topbilled by ABS-CBN's finest stars like Piolo Pascual, Kim Chiu, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Sam Milby, Gerald Anderson and new comers like Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, 24/7 In Love surely have the makings of a box office hit, or is it really the case? Debuting on a week filled with other big Hollywood movie franchises like Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2, James Bond's Skyfall, and Paranormal Activity 4, 24/7 In Love surely faces a lot of tough competition. But then again, this movie is mainly targeted to the masses or at least, the fan bases of these actors and actresses. This movie sure stands a chance, considering there are no other major Filipino movies being shown in cinemas at the time of its release. Is it worthy of being watched on the big screen? Let's find out.

24/7 in love

The story goes like this: Jane (Kathryn Bernardo), a die-hard fan, wants to win tickets to Billy Fernandez's (Daniel Padilla) concert. To do this she must answer the question, "What would you do if it was the end of the world?" In search for this answer she meets different people with different love stories: a 40-year old virgin named Virgie (Pokwang) who meets a gigolo named Charles (Sam Milby); a hopeless romantic secretary, Barbara (Maja Salvador) who is helping her boss, Ken (Diether Ocampo) with "personal issues"; Verna (Angelica Panganiban) who falls in love with a waiter named Elvis (John Lloyd Cruz) in Vietnam; Belle (Bea Alonzo) who is in love with her gay best-friend, Butch (Zanjoe Marudo); an active-executive (Zaijan Jaranilla) who is trying to court (Xyriel Manabat) with the help of (Piolo Pascual) a 35 year old mentally-challenged man named Pipoy, Patty (Kim Chiu) who traces her first love, Alvin (Gerald Anderson) to become a model for her company.

24/7 In Love is indeed a movie for everyone. Directed by some of the country's finest directors, under Star Cinema's production, you're almost being assured of a quality movie. The genre is romantic comedy. It is very similar to other Hollywood movies (New Year's Eve, Valentine's Day) wherein there are so many stars and sub-plots going on, but is, of course, inter-connected. The ensemble cast is composed of Star Magic's celebrated talents to mark its 20th year anniversary. If you have spare money or spare time, I think it's a good movie to watch and you'll surely enjoy it. Very light! Very enjoyable indeed!

RATING: 3.5 out of 5 STARS
