Gionee Elife S5.5: World's Thinnest Smartphone

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has announced what it touts as the world's thinnest smartphone - the Elife S5.5. Having a 5.5mm waistline, it is thinner than the Vivo X3 and the Huawei Ascend P6. It runs on the Android-based Amigo OS 2.0. and packs a 1.7GHz octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 16B of non-expandable storage.

The Gionee Elife S5.5 sports a 5-inch Super AMOLED display. It is equipped with a 13-MP primary camera (with LED flash) and a 5-MP front-facing camera. The manufacturer also managed to fit in a 2,300 mAh battery in the device, which should last a full day on 3G. It is expected to cost around $370 in China and may be released in other countries as well. An LTE variant of the Elife S5.5 will arrive on June 2014.
