ASUS PadFone S Plus Goes on Sale

ASUS has launched an upgraded version of the PadFone S in Malaysia, which it calls the PadFone S Plus. It looks identical to the original PadFone S but comes with updated specs. For those who are not familiar with this ASUS line of smartphones, the PadFone is an Android-powered smartphone which can be docked inside its proprietary docking station, which then turns the device into a functional tablet. Going back to the PadFone S Plus, it comes with the same 5-inch touchscreen display of 1080p Full HD resolution of its predecessor, a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset, a 13-MP rear-facing camera with LED flash, and a relatively small 2,300 mAh battery.

To warrant its "Plus" suffix, ASUS decided to up the smartphone's RAM to 3GB and its internal storage to 64GB. The ASUS Padfone S Plus will be available in Malaysia starting on April 8 and will cost about $300. The docking station is not part of the retail package but can be purchased as an optional accessory and also gives the PadFone S Plus a larger battery capacity.
