Lenovo A5000 Packs a 4,000 mAh Battery

The Lenovo A5000 is a new budget smartphone launched in Russia. Its main selling proposition is its massive 4,000 mAh battery, which is more than enough to power its 5-inch 720p HD IPS display. Its screen also comes with a special nano coating making it resistant to water splashes. Inside the smartphone is a MediaTek MT6582 SoC with quad-core 1.3GHz CPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB of on-board storage, expandable via its microSD card slot.

Imaging-wise, the Lenovo A5000 has an 8-MP rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash. In front of the device is a 2-MP fixed-focus camera. Among its connectivity features are dual-SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, FM Radio and GPS. It will run Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box but may get Android 5.0 Lollipop later in the year. The smartphone is quite thick and heavy at 10 mm and 160 grams, respectively, but that's expected given its high capacity battery. It will retail for $227, which is also quite steep.
