Xiaomi Redmi 2A Debuts w/ Leadcore Chipset

On its fifth birthday, Xiaomi unveiled a new budget Android smartphone called the Redmi 2A. It is basically a toned-down version of the previously announced Redmi 2. Retailing for just $96, the Xiaomi Redmi 2A has some respectable specs for its price range. The main difference it has from the regular Redmi 2 is its 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore L1860C chipset, paired with 1GB RAM and a Mali T628MP2 GPU.

The rest of the Redmi 2A's specs is very similar to the Redmi 2's. Both pack a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, an 8-MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2-MP selfie shooter. There is a 2,200 mAh plus dual-SIM and LTE support. This budget smartphone is also equipped with fast-charging, which not common among entry-level devices. Availability of the Redmi 2A is said to be limited to mostly Asian markets.
