Yu Yureka Plus: Another Bang For Buck

Given Yu Yureka's popularity in India, it is no surprise that Micromax's Yu brand launched a phablet version of the highly successful Yureka smartphone called Yu Yureka Plus. It packs a 5.5-inch IPS display of 1080p Full HD resolution, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood is a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with Adreno 405 GPU, 2GB RAM, and 16GB of expandable internal storage. Imaging-wise, there is a 13-MP primary camera with a Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, 5P Largan Blue lens, and LED flash. The camera is also capable of shooting 1080p Full HD videos at 30 fps and 720p HD slo-mo videos at 60 fps. There is also a 5-MP front-facing snapper with 1.4 micron pixel size for taking selfies and video calls.

Connectivity-wise, there is a lot going on for the Yu Yureka Plus as it comes with Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, USB OTG, 4G and 3G support, dual-SIM support, and an FM radio. A rather modest 2,500 mAh will keep its lights on. The Yureka Plus runs Cyanogen 12, which is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It will come in Moondust Grey and Alabaster White color options. It is expected to cost $157, which makes it a very affordable choice. It will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India on July 24.
