New Nokia Phones: 6, 5, 3 & Return of the 3310

Nokia is back in the mobile arena and brings with it new Android smartphones and the much anticipated new Nokia 3310. The new Nokia 3310 looks similar to the original one with an almost identical alphanumeric keypad below the screen. It comes with a larger 2.4-inch LCD of QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) resolution. It has a plastic body, which measures 115.6 mm x 51 mm x 12.8 mm and weighs 79.6 grams. It runs the Nokia Series 30+ platform and comes with 16MB storage, expandable via microSD slot. It also has a 2-MP rear camera with LED flash, FM radio, MP3 player, and a large 1,200 mAh removable battery, which offers up to 22 hours of talk time and 31 days of standby time. And yes, you can also play the classic game, Snake, although it's not entirely the same as the original one.

Perhaps, the only downsides to the new 3310 is its quirky design, lack of Wi-Fi, and 3G/4G connectivity. The Nokia 3310 will be available in four colors: Warm Red, Yellow, Dark Blue, and Gray. It will go on sale in Q2 of 2017 for €49. Interested to get one?

Then we have the new range of Android-running Nokia smartphones under HMD management. Let's start off with the Nokia 6, which is not entirely new, as it was released only in China last year. HMD decided its now time to make the Nokia 6 smartphone global. To refresh your memory, the Nokia 6 comes in a metal unibody frame. It packs a 5.5-inch IPS LCD of 1080p Full HD resolution covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with Adreno 505 GPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. It runs stock Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.

Imaging-wise, it sports a 16-MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection auto-focus, and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. Its video recording capabilities max out at 1080p Full HD. There's also an 8-MP secondary shooter with an f/2.0 aperture in front. Its other features include LTE support, dual-SIM connectivity, stereo speakers, and a fingerprint scanner. Everything will be powered by a 3,000 mAh battery. The regular version of the Nokia 6 will retail for $240 while the premium Arte Black variant will set you back $315. It comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. The Nokia 6 will go on sale Q2 of 2017.

We move on to the Nokia 5, which also sports a metal unibody frame. However, it has a smaller 5.2-inch IPS LCD of lower 720p HD resolution, covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3 display. It has the same processor as the Nokia 6 but comes with only 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. It too runs stock Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. When it comes to photography, the Nokia 5 packs a 13-MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture, phase detection auto-focus, and dual-tone, dual-LED flash. It uses the same 8-MP secondary camera of the Nokia 6. Connectivity options are the same as the Nokia 6. And it also comes with a fingerprint scanner. Despite its smaller screen, the Nokia 5 gets the same 3,000 mAh battery. It will be available in four color variants: Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black, and Copper, and will retail for €190. The Nokia 5 will also become available in Q2 of 2017.

Last but not the least, we have the Nokia 3, which sports an aluminum frame and a polycarbonate back. It packs a 5-inch IPS LCD of 720p HD resolution, covered with 2.5D Gorilla Glass display. It is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chipset with 2GB RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. Like the Nokia 6 and 5, it too runs stock Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Its main camera has been reduced to 8-MP, still with an f/2.0 aperture but only a single LED flash. However, it retains the 8-MP front-facing shooter. It also has the same connectivity options of its larger siblings. All these for the price of €140. The Nokia 3 will become available in Q2 of 2017.
